Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or case number entered in a search tool is transmitted directly to the outside provider that operates it. That company processes the query and supplies the results. Columbia County Court Docket does not retain or log those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email may be retained so a response can be sent. Messages remain within the organization unless disclosure is required by a legal duty.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the servers automatically receive certain technical details about the visit:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help measure which pages are used and where visits end. Analytics providers combine that traffic information for reporting. A browser can block cookies, although doing so may change how some features behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Keeping the site up, running, and loading quickly
- Sending your search requests to the right partner service
- Figuring out which pages people find useful and which need work
- Tracking down and fixing technical issues
- Showing ads that may line up with your interests
No Court-Record Data on File
Columbia County Court Docket neither hosts nor sells a database of dockets or personal case information. It publishes general directions to WCCA, the Wisconsin Circuit Court, Columbia County, and Julie Kayartz as Clerk of Circuit Court. Visitor information is not assembled into third-party files or consumer reports, and this website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Independent companies power the search boxes. Information submitted there is governed by the provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider chooses its retention and disclosure practices, which are outside our control. Review those terms before running a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Columbia County Clerk, Wisconsin courts, WCCA, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination's privacy rules apply. Read them before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may measure activity across websites to select ads. That processing occurs through their systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be shared with:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used for collected information. No internet system can guarantee absolute protection, so a security incident cannot be ruled out.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If such data is identified, deletion may be requested.
Your Data Rights
Wisconsin law may provide rights concerning personal information and records. The Wisconsin Open Records Law, Wis. Stat. §§ 19.31-19.39, governs public-record access in part. Wis. Stat. § 59.20(3) addresses county records, while Wis. Stat. §§ 801.19-801.21 cover protected information, confidential filings, and sealing in circuit court. At a minimum, a visitor may:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised. Any replacement will appear here with a new effective date, so visitors should review the page from time to time.
